"The continuous advance of science and the successive and accelerated social changes are giving rise to a constant change. Health systems
In this process, information and communication technologies through the Internet, and more recently of mobile devices, are completely changing personal relationships. As a consequence there is an easy access to information, to training and a faster exchange of data and ideas. The result is not only a more interconnected world but a much more integrated world. In this context, the appearance in our environment of an application for mobile devices aimed at health professionals is excellent news. In the first place because it constitutes a pioneer initiative that is inserted in the new medicine that is emerging under the changes linked to communication technologies developed in the last two decades and, secondly, because the subject subject to application, colon cancer, constitutes a health problem of first magnitude. The application consists of successive units developed by expert specialists in prevention and health education programs in colorectal cancer, have achieved a very balanced product in terms of scientific content and didactic virtuality. The current situation of the disease, screening, colonoscopy, hereditary character, genetic council or the cost and effectiveness of diagnostic and prevention mechanisms are now within the reach of numerous health professionals in their own mobile device.
This is going to facilitate, without a doubt, that these professionals can disseminate and dilate, even geographically, extremely valuable information at the service of their patients and that, in addition, they can do so in areas very different from the channels in which they usually develop their activity.
The creation of the APP Salud y Colon constitutes for all this an important and pioneering step in this sense and is inserted in that new orientation that the medicine of our time lives. I am sure that the use of this application will contribute very effectively not only to achieve the medical and health objectives that its authors have proposed, in this case in relation to colon cancer, but also, as will occur with other applications that are generated, to mark a new course in the way of exercising and developing the medicine of the future. To all who have intervened in their development, doctors, computer and sponsors our gratitude and the desire that new applications, as rigorous and didactic as that developed on colon cancer can be promoted in the coming years for the good of our medicine and our society. "
