== Definitions ==
Psychology (from Greek Psukhê, Soul, and Logos, Word) designates both the scientific study of psychic facts and behaviors. Divided into numerous branches of study, both theoretical and practical, psychology has therapeutic, social, and sometimes political or theological applications. The objective of psychology is the investigation of the psyche in terms of structure and operation. It therefore endeavors to describe, assess and explain the mental processes as a whole by taking into account the manifestations of subjectivity.
In a more general sense, the term psychology also designates empirical or intuitive knowledge of feelings, ideas, behaviors in others as well as the set of ways of thinking, feeling, acting that characterize a real or fictional individual or a group.
