Navigate on route in GPX, show POI, take notes, record track, and geo-tagged SMS
The goHIKE app is part of Climbing Buddy (CB) which is specialized at attraction or mountain area in which there are seldom navigation and guiding services provided by commercial navigation system. CB consists of goHIKE runs on Android mobile devices and GHWeb a web portal works with goHIKE. The goHIKE allows users to import target route and description of POI represented in GPX format, navigate on the imported route, guide with POI information, take notes, record track, and make geo-tagged emergency call. The GHWeb allows users to provide, take and edit route represented in GPX format upon map platform. Although there are many commercial or free standalone navigation devices, hiking apps and custom map software exist, the objectives of CB is to enhance the shortage of the existing solutions. Currently, the navigation services provided by dedicated navigation devices or apps on mobile devices are inadequate on mountain or rural areas.
